Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about PolySpy, from getting started to advanced strategy configuration.
Getting Started
What is PolySpy?
PolySpy is a Polymarket trading intelligence platform that detects whale wallets, lets you build copy or fade strategies with a visual builder, backtest against historical data, and execute trades automatically. It handles the entire pipeline from signal detection to trade execution.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new account starts with a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start. After the trial, the subscription is $19.99/month.
Do I need a Polymarket account?
You need a Polymarket account only if you want to execute live trades. You can explore signal detection, build strategies, run backtests, and use paper mode without connecting a Polymarket account.
What does it cost after the trial?
PolySpy costs $19.99/month. This includes unlimited strategies, backtesting, paper mode, live execution, and Telegram alerts. There are no hidden fees or per-trade charges.
Trading Strategies
What's the difference between copy and fade?
Copy trading mirrors the exact trades of a detected wallet — when they buy YES, you buy YES. Fade trading takes the opposite side — when they buy YES, you buy NO. Copy works well when you trust a trader's edge; fade works well when you believe a wallet is consistently wrong or manipulative.
What signal sources can I use?
PolySpy supports three signal sources: fresh wallet detection (wallets less than 24 hours old making large trades), leaderboard tracking (the top 75 Polymarket traders by P&L), and custom watchlists (specific wallet addresses you want to monitor).
How does position sizing work?
You can configure position sizing as a fixed dollar amount per trade, a percentage of your available balance, or a proportion relative to the whale's trade size. All sizing respects your maximum position and portfolio-level risk limits.
What risk controls are available?
PolySpy offers per-trade stop losses, maximum position sizes, daily loss limits, portfolio drawdown caps, and market concentration limits. You can also restrict strategies to specific market categories or minimum liquidity thresholds.
Backtesting
How does backtesting work?
Backtesting replays your strategy configuration against historical Polymarket data. It simulates every trade your strategy would have made and calculates performance metrics including P&L, win rate, Sharpe ratio, and maximum drawdown.
What data is used for backtests?
Backtests use real historical Polymarket trade data, including actual wallet activity, market prices, and outcomes. Data is available for up to one year of history, depending on the signal source.
How accurate are backtests?
Backtests provide a realistic estimate but are not a guarantee of future performance. They account for configurable slippage, fees, and fill rates, but cannot perfectly model live market conditions like liquidity impact or execution latency.
Can I configure slippage and fees?
Yes. You can set custom slippage percentage, trading fees, and fill rate assumptions in the backtest configuration. This lets you stress-test your strategy under different market conditions.
Technical
How do I connect my Polymarket API?
Go to Settings and enter your Polymarket API credentials. PolySpy uses your API key and secret to place trades on your behalf. Your credentials are encrypted with AWS KMS envelope encryption and never stored in plaintext.
How do Telegram alerts work?
Connect your Telegram account in Settings by starting a chat with our bot. You'll receive real-time notifications for trade executions, position updates, daily summaries, and any strategy errors or risk limit triggers.
What's paper mode?
Paper mode runs your strategy against live market data without placing real trades. It simulates execution and tracks virtual P&L so you can validate your strategy in real-time conditions before committing capital.
Is my data secure?
All API credentials are encrypted using AWS KMS envelope encryption. Data is transmitted over TLS, and we follow industry-standard security practices. We never share your data with third parties and do not store your Polymarket password.
